Association
Dinner a Tremendous Success
OTTAWA,
October 2005 -
The Cameron Highlanders
of Ottawa Regimental Association
hosted the 60th Annual Reunion Dinner on October 22, 2005. This
year's Dinner Committee
headed by Roger Laplante
decided to go with a Dutch theme as it was sixty years ago the Holland
was liberated.
This
year's head table included RSM Clapham and his wife Jane, LCol Walsh,
Karen Nutall, Gerry McCauley President of the Association and his
wife Sylvia, Honourary Colonel Urie, and Marty Lane President of
the Governor
Generals Foot Guards Association and his wife
Estelle.
More that 250 sat down for dinner this year, one of the
largest dinners in
recent memory.
Conrad
Laplante former RSM of the unit gave the
Address to the
Haggis and Conrad did a fabulous job.
This
years entertainment included the sounds of the Pipes and Drums of
the
Cameron Highlanders. Pauline van der Roest entertained
us with
her beautiful voice as
Fred Hill accompanied
her on the keyboard. This year our Regimental Toast had a little
twist as Gordon Wright sang his way through the toast as he was
picking away at his guitar. Much to the surprise of many Gord has
written several songs
about the Regiment and has a wonderful
voice.
As the days and years pass us by, more and more of our veterans
pass on. At the end of this years dinner we had taken the opportunity to gathered
all those who were there sixty years ago for a photo.
 Judging
by the look on may faces, this was a very successful dinner. Thanks
go out to the committee and all those who assisted in the set up
and take down.
