Annual Awards Given Out
OTTAWA,
November 24, 2005 -
As part of the Change of RSM's parade, The Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa Regimental Foundation gave away its Bursaries to deserving members of the unit.
Two $500.00 bursaries were awarded. Col Neil Thompson presented the D-Day 13 Platoon Memorial Bursary to Cpl. Jonathan Kuzub and his daughter Sarah presented the Colonel Donald and Dorothy Thompson Bursary to Sgt. Abdoul Guindo.
In addition there were a number of the Thompson clan in attendance for this years presentation.
Also during the ceremonies other awards were presented.
The Commanding Officer LCol Bud Walsh presented three camp flags that have flown over the Drill Hall in recognition of service to the Regiment. They were to LCol Pat Kelly, former CO, CWO Clapham and Col Don “Tiny” Thompson. Col Neil Thompson accepted on his behalf.
WO Mike Lever was awarded the Chief of Land Staff Commendation for his years of service as “Smokey” Smith’s aide during his many trips overseas. Mike was invited by the family to sit with them at the funeral. Congratulations Mike.
