Sgt Abdoul Guindo Receive the Meritorious Service Medal

OTTAWA, February 2008 - Sgt Abdoul Guindo is to receive the Meritorious Service Medal in the near future at a ceremony at the Governor General's residence. The Citation reads as follows: - Meritorious Service Medal - Sgt A.A. Guindo, Cameron Highlanders, Ottawa Sergeant Guindo deployed as a Combat Logistics Patrol Commander with Force Protection Platoon, National Support Element, Joint Task Force Afghanistan from June 2006 to March 2007. He consistently demonstrated inspiring leadership and excellent situational awareness as he led his troops through numerous ambushes and improvised explosive device strikes on Combat Logistics Patrols. His soldiers' alert actions during hostile situations are a direct result of Sergeant Guindo's superior leadership and inspiring conduct. Sergeant Guindo's continued willingness to face risks and his devotion to duty had an immensely positive influence on the outcome of the mission and on the international reputation of the Canadian Forces.
